Women's Health Services

Ashburton Family Practice has a team of doctors who are highly experienced in women’s health. Several of our team have post-graduate qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and many have worked in the field in hospital posts in the past. We have dedicated women’s health clinics throughout the week including Saturdays and Sundays.

Common problems which we encounter and can help you with include:

  • General Health Checks (includes diabetic screening, blood pressure & cholesterol checks)

  • Women's Health Advice

  • Contraception & Family Planning Advice

  • Menopause

  • Menstrual Problems

Cervical Screening/ PAP Test

The National Cervical Screening Program in Victoria aims to prevent and detect cervical cancer early through regular cervical screening.

People aged 25 to 74 years are eligible to participate in the National Cervical Screening Program. Please make an appointment to discuss with us.

Breast Screening

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Victorian women and the second most common cause of cancer death.

Please make an appointment for a breast check.  If you have a family history of breast cancer, we encourage you to open up and discuss this with us during your next visit.

Smoking Cessation

Smoking-related diseases killed 18,800 Australians in 2011. That’s 50 preventable deaths every day.

Quitting smoking has immediate health benefits and dramatically reduces the risk of smoking-related diseases, whatever your age. We offer various strategies and medications to help you quit.

Antenatal Care

We have several members of our team who are accredited and affiliated with local antenatal units (Eastern Health and Monash Health) to provide Shared Antenatal Care.

Please ring the reception to enquire further.
